We performed the clinical analysis for 129 cases in 127 persons who could be clinically followed up for more than one year from 182 cases of arthroscopic partial meniscectomy among 435 cases performed arthroscopy in Incheon Chung-age Gil General
Hospital between March, 1987 to March, 1994 during 84 months(average 3.9 year) and hereby the results were as follow.
1. Its general results of the prognosis judgement according to Lysholm II Score; Excellent:37 cases(29%), Good?58 cases(45%), Fair?22 cases(17%), Poor:12 cases(9%).
2. In case of degenerative tears from 47 cases; Excellent:9 cases(19%) Good:19 cases(40%) and total of 28 cases(59%) were satisfactory results but in case of traumatic tears from 82 case; Excellent:28 cases(34%), Good: 39 cases(48%), and total of

cases(82%) were satisfactory results therefore the result of the traumatic tears showed better prognosis than the degenerative tears(P<0.05).
3. In case of degenerative tears and according to the degree of the extent of meniscus removed, the mild (than 25%), moderate (25~75%) and extensive (more 75%) showed satisfactory result in 18(39%), 8(17%) and 2(4%) cases, respectively. In case
of
traumatic tears and again according to the degree of the meniscus removed, the mild, moderate and extensive showed satisfactory results in 35(43%), 24(29%) and 8(11%) cases, respectively.
4. As for the prognostic difference between sexes, in case of male, degenerative tears 21 cases and traumatic tears 45 cases and total 66 cases(79%) showed satisfactory result. In case of female, degenerative tears 7 cases, traumatic tears 22
cases,
total 29(63%) cases showed satisfactory results.
5. In comparison of medial and lateral meniscal tears, each 43 cases(70%) and 52 cases(76%) were shown as similar in prognosis(P>0.05).
